Connectors
Slack
Let an AI employee read your Slack channels and send messages after you confirm, even in Auto mode.
With Slack connected, an AI employee can search and read the channels, threads and files you can see. It can also propose changes: post, schedule and edit messages, upload files, react, pin and create or change channels.
Connect Slack
- Open Connectors in the sidebar. Under Available, on the Slack card, choose Connect.
- Choose Continue to authorization. In the new window, sign in to your Slack workspace with your own account and review the requested permissions.
- The card moves to Your connections and shows Connected.
If the Slack card says the sign-in page shows Nango, your AI employee works as a Slack app: it sees only the channels it is in, can't search Slack, and its messages show as WorkPier, not as you.
Use Slack in a task
- In the box on Home or in a task's reply box, type @ and choose Slack under Services.
- Describe what you want done and send. The AI employee reads Slack straight away.
- When a change shows a card in the task: for one message, check it, choose a channel if asked, and choose Send to Slack. For other changes, check what the card lists, then choose Confirm or Cancel.
A message you confirm is sent as you, exactly as shown, and can't be changed. If a channel shows Join it in Slack first, join it in Slack, then choose it.
Direct messages
Your direct messages and group DMs stay out of reach until you turn on Read my direct messages on the Slack card and choose Turn on. When it is on and you mention @Slack, AI employees can search, read and quote them. Anyone who can see that task sees what was read and quoted, and turning it off later does not remove what is already in tasks.
Permissions
On the Slack card, choose Permissions to switch off what AI employees may do: Read messages, Send messages, Edit and organise, Delete messages, and Manage channels and members. Direct messages also need Read my direct messages. See Connectors for how the switches work.
With Auto mode on, low-risk changes that match your request run without asking. Deletes, sharing and messages to others always ask.
